Special Nueltin Memories of Ragner Johnson

These pictures recently came to us from an old client and we thought we'd share it with you! Alex Schmidtke fished at Nueltin a couple times in the late 70's and early 80's.

During one visit he stopped in at one of Ragner's many Teepees for a visit. True to Ragner's trading heritage the old man offered this duck in exchange for a package of cigarettes. Alex never said if he accepted the trade - but he did say he enjoyed his visit with Ragner and often looks back at this photo when thinking back on his adventures at Nueltin.

Nueltin Wildlife

My husband, Mark and I are both biologists, and when we headed to Nueltin Lake at the end of July 2008, we wanted to see wildlife almost as much as we wanted to catch fish. Our packing list included the requisite fishing rods, reels and too many lures, along with a good camera, binoculars, a zooplankton net, small mammal live traps, peanut butter and pistachios.

A Few Words From Shawn and Mandy on 2008 Season

The fall is our favorite time of year at Nueltin. After the heat of the summer it’s nice to feel the cool coming on and watch as the colors light up the terrain.

Feeling a little wore out from a busy summer coordinating trips for our customers we decided it was time to head out and re-connect with the reason we are out here. It will surprise some customers to know that we don’t get much chance anymore to get out and about even though we live in the midst of Paradise. Although it’s exciting to live vicariously through our customers sometimes the need to wander over comes us and it’s time to hit the water. Leaving the phone and our 2 year old Sam with his Grandparents we took off by ourselves into a fall wonderland feeling tired, relaxed and grateful to find ourselves in the midst of such splendor.

A Word from Shawn & Mandy

What can be said to sum up 2007? You’ll see more input from our clients than usual in this issue. I think I’ll take a break from my usual soapbox pounding and allow some of our customers to summarize the season!

Fly-Tying Table at the Lodge

For those of you who enjoy fly fishing, you’ll appreciate the fly-tying table I plan purchased for the lodge. Over the winter months, I will be consulting with my fly fishing resources to purchase just what you will need to get the job done. It is available to anyone who would like to tie a few fresh Dahlberg Divers or Lefty’s Deceivers for the next day’s fishing.

Wireless Web in the Wilderness

Treeline and Kasmere Lake Lodges Log on to the World Wide Web!

Guests at Treeline Lodge have enjoyed the convenience of wireless internet access for several years now. We have added a new K-band satellite system which offers bandwidth nearly equivalent to a T1 line.
